Welcome Addition: Qiong (Joan) Zhao, MD, PhD, FASE, FACC
Dr. Zhao received her medical degree at Beijing Medical University,followed by a doctorate in Cell and Molecular Biology at Creighton University School of Medicine (Omaha, Nebraska) and completed her postdoctoral research fellowship training at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA). She completed her medical residency training at the University of Massachusetts (Worcester, MA) and then went on to Cardiology Fellowship training at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center.
Subsequently, she continued on one-year subspecialty training in Echocardiography in Cardiology Division at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine (Chicago, IL), where she then served as an Assistant Professor in Medicine in the Cardiology Division.

Dr. Zhao has received multiple travel grant awards from national medical associations. In 2006 and 2007, she received the Northwestern Young Investigator Award for her research and in 2008 she was awarded the prestigious Jay N. Cohn New Investigator Award from the Heart Failure Society of America. She currently serves on the American Society of Echocardiography research committee and is also a board member and the Chair of Structure Heart Disease Sector at Chinese American Heart Association.
