And ear infections are the most common illness in babies and young children. While these conditions are common, they are not trivial. There, a multidisciplinary team of experts treats common and rare disorders of the ear, nose and throat with extraordinary care. Adult and Pediatric Care Mercy’s team of experienced otolaryngologists—head and neck surgeons, as ENT doctors are called, specializes in the treatment and management of adult and pediatric ear, nose and throat disorders, including: • ear infections, hearing loss, tinnitus • dizziness and balance problems • gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) • snoring and sleep apnea • allergies, tonsils and adenoids, and other nasal and sinus problems • swallowing disorders • laryngeal and voice disorders • throat cancer, tumors of the head and neck • facial paralysis Sophisticated Diagnostic Tools At the Mercy Ear, Nose & Throat Center, doctors utilize advanced diagnostic imaging tools to aid in the detection and treatment of ENT disorders. For example, Mercy doctors now treat chronic sinus problems with image-guided surgery, in which doctors use three-dimensional CT scans of the patient’s sinuses to lead them through minimally invasive surgery.
