$30 acupuncture treatment, no appointment necessary
Chicago IL: Looking for relief from chronic pain and stress? The Community Pain & Stress Center at Mercy Hospital offers acupuncture for only $30 a treatment, no appointment or referral necessary. Located on the 6th floor of Mercy Hospital, our Community Acupuncture Clinic offers treatment for the management of pain, stress and other common complaints in chronic disease.
Acupuncture is a therapeutic process that restores the body’s natural flow of vital energy through the insertion of tiny, sterilized needles into specific points. “Acupuncture treatment allows the body the ability to recover and reset over time, said Maria Mulcahy, licensed acupuncturist, director of the Center. As she describes it, acupuncture acts as a form of functional medicine; the approach for each patient is different depending on their particular patterns of signs and symptoms.”
Average treatment time is 5 to 20 minutes, and treatments take place in a community- style atmosphere, versus a private clinic where the cost can be much more expensive. “Our clinic provides accessibility and affordability to patients, staff and community members, said Mulcahy. We create access for the working class and underserved/uninsured individuals who are looking for cost-effective management of their pain, stress and chronic disease.”
Mercy Hospital is one of the few hospitals in the Chicago metropolitan area that has a Community Acupuncture Clinic on campus; Cook County Hospital also has the Stroger Pain Clinic. The advantage is two-fold, said Mulcahy. “What’s exciting about this new model is how it showcases the holistic approach to medicine within a conventional setting. It gives us the ability to educate our physician’s right here on the hospital campus about the benefits of acupuncture and integration in health care.
As a result, patients are hearing about our center and benefitting greatly. ”
The Center is open Monday thru Saturday. Hours of operation are: Mondays and Fridays, 11:00am-4:00pm; Tuesday thru Thursday, 11:30am-6:30pm and Saturdays from 10:00am-1:00pm. Walk-ins are welcome.
